Level 3 Qualifications 

A Level courses are completed in two sections: the AS section in Year 12 and the A2 section in Year 13. It is very important for students to understand the key link between success at AS and their final A Level grade. Some subjects offer vocational qualifications which are achieved through the submission of assignments over the two year period with an examination in one or more modules of the course in some subjects. These qualifications are fully recognised by universities and HE institutions, including all Russell Group universities. All students study the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Qualification.

Key Stage 5 (Years 12 & 13) consists of:

• Studying four AS levels in Yr12
• Continuing to study three of these subjects in Year 13
• The Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Qualification
• GCSE re-sit classes are available in Mathematics and English Language
• The courses best suited to a student are decided after careful consultation with both students and parents following discussion of predicted GCSE examination results

Entry requirements

• At least 5 GCSEs A*-C from a range of subject areas (although many subjects require at least B Grade at GCSE level) plus at least a C grade in the WBQ. 
• A satisfactory reference from your current Head of Year. 

Registering for 6th form

Please note that registration for 6th form takes place on results' day in August upon receiving your results. We would strongly recommend all applicants, both internal and external, come to the school and register in person on results' day. This enables you to confirm your options, discuss potential problems and any changes that may need to be made. The 6th form office is not staffed during the summer holidays and any correspondence received cannot be responded to until the first Monday in September.
